Council conditions change of health-insurance provider on termination costs

Council reviewed a proposal to change the borough’s health-insurance provider for 2025. Wells said the borough would receive new rate information on Oct. 15 and that an estimate of run-out/termination costs would be provided.
Wells told the council switching could save about $13,730 per year, though she cautioned there would be a termination cost. "There will be a cost for termination however the insurance would save us $13,730/year," the minutes state. Councilor Osborn moved, and Councilor Steadman seconded, a motion to change health-insurance providers for 2025 if estimated termination costs would not exceed $42,000. The minutes record Riley Cross and James Kerns abstained; the motion carried.
