Mayor Tom Fischer raised a question about whether a planned AI policy would include a usage model and restrictions. Shearen said the city currently does not have such a policy and confirmed that "the policy would include how the tool should and should not be used." He also told the council that most items in the five-year plan are moving ahead of schedule and that he did not expect timeline shifts to create budgetary problems.
The council did not take action on the Strategic Plan at this meeting; staff will provide the next quarterly update in October and are expected to bring draft policy language on AI use at a later date.
