Manager reports hiring and infrastructure updates: highway hire, DFD approvals, Casella work and well permit

Town Manager Rob Gaiotti provided a multi-item operations update at the Aug. 19 meeting covering personnel, utilities and public-works projects.
Gaiotti announced the hiring of Mark Towslee to fill the open highway position; he previously worked for the town for seven years. Gaiotti also reported that the Dorset Fire Department (abbreviated in minutes as DFD) has advanced in the state approval process and that Casella is expected to start work on Route 30 this fall. On water infrastructure, the minutes state the town has received a permit for a new well that allows 150 gallons per minute; staff are now considering treatment and connection costs and a timeframe for bringing the well online.
The Board took these as informational updates. Staff will continue planning for repairs, contracting and well treatment decisions and will report back as details firm up.
