Sandra King, Director of External Operations and County Services, requested County employees be permitted to volunteer through Day of Caring and outlined coordination among agencies. King said the shelter would be open through Feb. 1 based on forecast and that "Average overnight usage is 12 people." She said the plan is to keep the facility open through the end of March if needed; the Board approved volunteer recruitment on a unanimous roll call vote.
County staff will coordinate volunteer sign-ups and track service hours; the Board's approval clears one barrier to operation while staff and partner agencies manage logistics.
