Residents outline East Dorset green plan for town office site

Jim Mirenda presented an overview of a volunteer-led design effort to develop the site of the current East Dorset Town Office into green space after the building is removed. The group envisions a gradual approach to redevelopment emphasizing open lawn areas, improved gardens and playground upgrades.
Mirenda described the concept and timeline for moving forward and told the board the community favors a modest pavilion and playground improvements. "The hope is to have mostly open space with a small gazebo/pavilion structure as well as upgrades to the playground space and gardens," the minutes record. The Select Board previously approved $175,000 for demolition and redevelopment; Mirenda said he will keep the board informed as plans and work progress.
