The Dorset Select Board approved two letters to the state traffic committee asking for (1) extension of the 30 mph speed zone from the Inn at West View Farm south to the area near the town shed at 2466 Route 30 and (2) a no-parking zone on the west side of Route 30 south of the Dorset Quarry. Manager Rob Gaiotti drafted the requests and the board approved them after discussion; Henry Chandler moved and Alison Clarke seconded the motion, which passed 4-0.
Minutes note increased sheriff patrols in response to resident concerns and that the town is awaiting a formal speed study for Route 30 to support additional signage. The packet text explains the 30 mph extension would capture HN Williams and the Dorset Farmer’s Market and that no-parking would reduce risky crossings by swimmers and others.
