A vendor quote of approximately $108,660 for an installed fabric building and an estimated $21,000 for paving and site work prompted the Tinmouth Select Board to plan a formal bids process rather than direct purchase.
One highway staffer walked through the vendor's scope: foundations with block rows, anchors and straps handled by the installer, and town responsibility for groundwork and paving. Board members noted that paving and the building combined exceed the town's informal bid threshold and therefore should be put out to bid. A member observed the building quote "that's 108" when discussing installed costs and emphasized the need to have identical specifications for all bidders.
Members agreed to hold a short special meeting to draft bid specs, allow at least a week for responses, and then open bids in a timely sequence so the town can take advantage of current pricing. The chair suggested a spec meeting with the planning commission meeting week to keep it brief and efficient. The board emphasized documenting dimensions, foundation-block work and transportation logistics (trucking the blocks is substantial) in the bid package to ensure comparable pricing.
