Fire Department staff reported November activity and several action items. The department said calls are down this year ("currently sitting at 262 calls at the end of November," the department representative said) and presented three hires — Christopher Fouch, John Huckaby and Kristen Detloff — for council approval. Council approved the three new members.
Staff told council the department received a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the amount of $169,163.80 and requested authorization to use grant funds to pay off an outstanding loan for SCBAs; staff cited a payoff amount of roughly $112,141.86. Council authorized the equipment purchase (approximately $6,500) and the loan payoff. Separately, the personnel committee presented several issues and the council voted to terminate firefighter Cade (transcript also shows the spelling 'Kade') Studenbeck effective Dec. 9, 2024.
