At a town-hall on Oct. 28, a presenter described a modular, pre-engineered treatment system offered by a vendor (referred to in the meeting as Nueterra) as a lower-cost option to address manganese in Montrose's water supply.
The Presenter said the modular approach is "pre-engineered self contained" and touted advantages including faster installation, scalability and lower construction costs compared with a full treatment plant. He gave preliminary pre-construction ranges: media-filtration options around $550,000–$700,000 and reverse-osmosis modules around $600,000–$800,000, while noting those figures do not include site construction expenses and require vendor sampling and engineering follow-up.
The presenter emphasized the work is early-stage and recommended sending samples for a tailored design. "I think this is, an extremely viable option for the city of Montrose to, mitigate its manganese problems," the Presenter said. Staff and council members agreed to pursue sampling and return with more information in roughly six months.
