Council approves Hotel–Motel grant for Late Bloomers Garden Club to maintain Codger Park

The Colfax City Council on May 4 unanimously approved Resolution 26-09 to grant Hotel–Motel funds to the Late Bloomers Garden Club to maintain Codger Park.
Late Bloomers Garden Club President Celesta Dailey explained the club has cared for Codger Park for several years and said "their goal is to maintain and enhance the park for tourists to stop and enjoy." She told the council the club receives compliments from visitors and often directs them to local businesses; volunteers and local donors also repaired the park sign.
Councilmember Golden moved to approve the application; Councilmember Mackleit seconded. The motion passed on a roll call vote of all councilmembers present.
The grant will cover flowers and supplies for park maintenance, according to Dailey's request. The council did not specify the dollar amount of the award in the meeting minutes.
The approval clears the way for the Late Bloomers to begin seasonal plantings ahead of summer events on Main Street.
