S3, the highway staff member, said the modification would increase versatility and allow the town to pretreat roads directly. The board discussed timing, compatibility with the truck body and the equipment fund (about $100,000). S3 argued the change reduces future dependence on commercially treated salt: "You know, we don't have to worry about getting treated salt anymore," S3 said. The board directed signatures on the contract amendment and agreed to monitor final invoicing.
