Council approves SCADA cybersecurity service, firewall and hydrant replacement

Public Works explained that a governor's cybersecurity mandate requires updated protections for the city's SCADA system; staff recommended a yearly service plan from InControl Incorporated for $6,274 covering automation and cybersecurity work. Council approved the service plan 5-0 and also approved purchase of a replacement hardware firewall cited at roughly $1,009.62.
Separately, staff presented a quote to replace a fire hydrant damaged earlier in the summer on Highway 12. The council approved the Core & Main quote of $7,238.91 for the hydrant and noted the city expects insurance reimbursement for the item; council approved the purchase 5-0.
