Council amends fee schedule, lowers McDonald Park concession rental fee to 5%

City Administrator Matt Hammer presented Ordinance 26-01, an update to the 2026 fee schedule covering pool rentals, swimming lessons, McDonald Park concession rental and vactor rental fees. Council and staff discussed the proposed concession rental fee and its potential impact on vendors.
Colin Haffner, the McDonald Park concession vendor for the season, told the council he was "not opposed to a fee" but "requested it be lowered" to preserve vendor profit margins. Councilmember Golden moved to amend the concession rental fee to 5%; Schaefer seconded and the amended ordinance passed on a unanimous roll-call vote.
