The Colfax City Council on June 15 approved Resolution 26-10, awarding lodging-tax funds to the Colfax Swim Team to cover pool rental for the upcoming season. Colfax Swim Team Manager Darcy Cochran told the council the team returned to Colfax this year after recent use of neighboring towns and that participation has increased to about 35 kids.
Cochran said she is contacting local hotels to secure group rates for the county meet, which draws out-of-town participants. Councilmember Golden moved to approve the lodging-tax application and Councilmember McRae seconded; the measure passed on a roll-call vote with all members voting yes.
The funding will support the team's pool rental costs and efforts to bring the county meet back to Colfax from Palouse. The council took no other action tied to operational details of the team; Cochran remains the applicant and contact for logistical arrangements.
