Board approves Migrant Family Advocacy Conference and Close Up D.C. trip for migrant scholars

Assistant Superintendent Elia R. Sagasta told trustees she was recommending approval for two migrant program trips: up to 20 sixth–eighth grade students and their parents to attend the Migrant Family Advocacy Conference at California State University, Fresno on Feb. 28, 2026, and up to 10 sixth– and seventh‑grade newcomers to attend Close Up’s Washington, D.C., program June 20–28, 2026.
Sagasta said the Migrant Region V program will cover all expenses for the Feb. 28 conference and will provide transportation to LAX and cover expenses for the Close Up trip. The board approved both items. The minutes do not include individual participant names or a detailed itinerary.
