District to partner with OneSight to deliver no-cost vision services to 50 scholars

Assistant Superintendent Elia R. Sagasta presented a memorandum of understanding with the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation to provide no‑cost vision services to 50 eligible Richland scholars. Sagasta said district health staff identified students who met a minimum vision threshold of 20/40 to qualify, and the event—March 4–7 at the Kern County Fairgrounds—will serve more than 800 students from Kern County schools.
The board approved the memorandum of understanding. Sagasta said the initiative will be funded with $4,150 in Title IV funds. Board Clerk Melissa DeWitt and Trustee Deanna Rodriguez‑Root voted to approve the item after a motion by Tony Aguirre.
