Cornelius EDC elects Willow Oelke chair; Margaret Garza chosen as vice chair

Willow Oelke was elected chair of the Cornelius Economic Development Commission at the group’s Jan. 21 meeting; Margaret Garza was approved as vice chair.
The reappointments of Commissioners Robert Dixon, Alma Lozano and Anthony Mendoza were confirmed; Maria Caballero-Rubio and Cecilia Giron were appointed to the Commission at the meeting. A motion to approve the Nov. 19, 2025 meeting minutes was made by Garza, seconded by Lozano and approved unanimously.
The officer elections began when Margaret Garza nominated Claudia Yakos to serve as chair and Yakos declined. Claudia Yakos then nominated Willow Oelke, whose nomination was approved unanimously. Maria Caballero-Rubio nominated Garza for vice chair and that motion also passed unanimously. The Commission roster now shows Willow Oelke as chair and Margaret Garza as vice chair for 2026.
