Director of Human Resources Christal Martinez told the Board the district may employ teachers under temporary assignment permits where fully credentialed candidates are not available and requested the Declaration of Need for the 2026–27 school year. Martinez said the district will seek fully prepared teachers but must file the declaration to employ candidates holding Emergency, Limited Assignment, Provisional Internship, or similar permits when needed.
The Board approved the Declaration of Need and also approved a Provisional Internship Permit for Lissette Abair to serve as a Mild/Moderate Special Education teacher at Sequoia Elementary for 2026–27; Martinez noted the District will provide appropriate support and supervision as Mrs. Abair completes credential requirements.
