Bill to let counties use central-business utility district tools advances with amendment

Representative Lankford explained that House Bill 22-58 and amendment 13298 would update the Central Business Utility District law so counties can use similar infrastructure-financing tools for developments outside municipal boundaries. The sponsor said Montgomery County requested the change because of growing development beyond city limits and that the amendment corrects an omitted reference to 'county' in the code citation.
When asked how many counties would be impacted, Representative Lankford said "This would impact all 95 counties." After limited discussion the committee adopted the amendment and voted to advance the bill to the next State and Local Government calendar.
