Comal County proclaims September 2024 Leukodystrophy Awareness Month; local foundation recognized

The Comal County Commissioners Court approved a proclamation recognizing September 2024 as Leukodystrophy Awareness Month and instructed that the Comal County Courthouse Bell Tower be tinted pink Sept. 20–30 to raise awareness. The proclamation noted there is no effective cure and emphasized the importance of newborn screening and family support.
A representative from the Believing for Brylee Foundation addressed the court, described the organization’s work in memory of their daughter and thanked the community. “We've raised over $2,000,000, for kiddos throughout The United States, and we continue to grant, to families that need help,” the representative said, and previewed the foundation’s 12th annual event at the Midway Fest Grounds. Commissioners approved the proclamation by motion and voice vote.
