District reports lower PFOA in recent samples after increased CLAWA blending; 114 filter rebate requests processed

Operations staff said increased purchases from CLAWA and blending of finished water have correlated with decreased PFOA in drinking-water and wastewater sampling. The District has processed 114 requests for in-home filter rebates and held a public PFAS update on Sept. 30.
Operations Manager Matt Brooks reported that since the board's August meeting recent sampling results show a downward trend in PFOA concentrations after the District increased purchases from the County blend source (CLAWA) and used blending to reduce finished-water PFAS levels. Brooks told the board that "these samples show a decrease of PFOA." The District also held a PFAS customer update on Sept. 30 and posted correspondence and sample results to the District website.
General Manager Catherine Cerri reported the District has processed 114 rebate requests for in-home water filters as of Oct. 11. Staff emphasized transparency: the District was not required to send the customer update but chose to post results and notify customers about the Response Level Calculation and blending actions.
