Comal County approves termination of collection agreements for four water districts

Comal County Commissioners on Sept. 5 approved termination of four interlocal agreements under which the county provided tax assessment and collection services for several Comal County Water Improvement Districts.
Kristin Hoyt, who the judge addressed during the meeting as the tax assessor-collector, said she received a formal request from the law firm representing the four districts asking that they no longer use county collection services. "I got a call from the law firm that does represent these 4 water districts, requesting that they no longer use the county's collection services," Hoyt told the court. She said the county had provided the letters of formal request and that there was no indication the county's services had been provided incorrectly; the court approved the terminations on a motion by Commissioner Eccleston with a second and unanimous voice vote.
Hoyt noted the move is part of a statewide trend with water districts opting out of county collection services; the county will process the terminations per the formal requests.
