Comal County Commissioners approved reclassifying 10 sheriff positions to deputy sheriff cadet classifications to enable enrollment in the upcoming ACOG Law Enforcement Academy cohort.
The sheriff explained the county previously placed six open deputy positions into the cadet program and received strong applicant turnout; the court approved the ten additional reclassifications so the county can fill slots in a February–March academy. "We are respectfully requesting the court that we put these 10 into the deputy sheriff cadets so that we can put them in that next academy," the sheriff said, describing positive results from earlier cadet placements and noting that several of the initial cadets were county employees. Commissioners approved the reclassifications by voice vote.
