Residents tell Heritage Pines board storm-damaged trees and debris are hazards at Rolling Hills Loop and Heritage Point Drive

During the public comment portion of the Feb. 18 meeting, resident Tom Martin asked about the district’s plans for the Rolling Hills Loop wetland and reported a dead tree near the edge of his property at 18906 Rolling Hills Loop that he said has been present for two to three years and is an eyesore.
"There is a dead tree near the edge of my property at 18906 Rolling Hills Loop that has been there for two or three years. I think the tree needs to be removed and that the area is an eyesore," Martin said. Chair Kathleen Lonergan asked for the precise location so the District Engineer can investigate and follow up with Grounds Superintendent Tim Gatz.
Resident Don Brothers later described an invasive species tree behind 11453 Heritage Point Drive that he said was significantly damaged by recent hurricanes and a debris pile left by a previous owner on CDD land. Supervisor Stephen Putman inspected and photographed the area and told the board the tree is a hazard that could fall on nearby homes during a hurricane if not removed.
The board placed related removal work on the agenda; subsequent action approved a $600 stump-grind estimate specifically for the property at 11453 Heritage Point Drive.
