Heritage Pines board reviews Environmental Solutions plan to 'knock back' vines and remove dead branches in NWRA-33 wetland

Board Chair Kathleen Lonergan read a detailed scope of work Feb. 18 from Environmental Solutions for work in wetland area NWRA-33 that the District previously authorized to proceed after an amendment to the ES proposal.
The scope specifies removal and disposal of several dead or dying bushes around the wetland perimeter, removal of two dead oak and maple branches in the southwest portion adjacent to water lilies, attempt to kill back vines by cutting at the water level and selective herbicide use (noting ES cannot eliminate canopy vines but will "knock them back meaningfully"), removal or spraying of a small invasive in the buffer perimeter, and hand pulling and weed-whacking where machinery cannot be placed due to slope.
District Manager Chuck Adams distinguished the Environmental Solutions approach from the A‑Z Tree Service forestry mulcher option offered in a separate estimate, saying ES is a more handwork-oriented and aesthetic method while A‑Z would use a mulcher that grinds vegetation.
The board did not take additional authorization beyond the previously approved amended ES proposal at this meeting; the minutes do not record a start date or funding source for the NWRA-33 work.
