Sanilac County commissioners approve October claims, budget amendments and payments totaling more than $3 million

The Sanilac County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 15 approved a series of routine finance motions, including payment of current claims and several budget amendments. The board approved $158,582.55 in identified current claims dated Oct. 8, 2024, and a separate motion to accept additional general-fund disbursements for September totaling $2,814,368.12 (ACH payments $2,502,879.82; checks $311,488.30).
Chair John Black called for the motions; Finance Chairman moved the claims and commissioners signaled assent. The board also approved budget amendments and account establishments described in FA151-24 with no recorded discussion. The meeting record shows the approvals were carried by voice or roll-call votes where required. The actions clear routine accounts-payable cycles and allow staff to proceed with county obligations and ongoing projects.
The board additionally authorized posting and filling a deputy register of deeds position at pay grade 3, step 1 and approved disposal of three county vehicles (a 2006 Ford Ranger, a 2013 Dodge Caravan and a 2009 Ford pickup) to be sold at Albright Auction of Vassar, with proceeds deposited to the motor pool fund. Commissioners said the vehicle disposals are standard fleet management practice as older units are retired.
Looking ahead, the board referred two SAFE Partnership millage items to its Nov. 19 meeting after the Save Partnership Millage Board requested a special meeting on Oct. 13 to finalize recommendations.
