Residents raise tree, curb and mosquito concerns; board discusses microphones and private sprinklers

During public comment the board heard several resident maintenance concerns. Resident Bruce Harris asked who is responsible for trees on the golf course; HPCA General Manager Herb Hurley replied that he and HPCA Grounds Superintendent Tim Gatz are responsible and offered to speak with Mr. Harris after the meeting. Resident Joyce Welsh reported crumbling curbs and asked about landscape storm debris removal; Chair Lonergan asked her to provide her address to District Engineer Kurt Heath for inspection and noted debris removal is underway.

Resident Tim Sweeney asked about using microphones during meetings; Chair Lonergan said she submitted the request and asked staff to be copied on related emails. Resident Susan Napolitano questioned whether awarding contracts to the lowest bidder is best practice; Mr. Adams said he has worked with Premier Lakes and deems their service level superior to SOLitude. Supervisor Janice Benedetti said a technician treated a pond for mosquito control the following day and identified significant issues at that particular pond. The board discussed whether private sprinkler installations in lakes should be communicated to residents and whether future maintenance and electricity costs should be handled via policy or on an individual basis.
