Hillsborough County commissioners approved setting a public hearing on June 3 to consider adopting the county's annual solid-waste system assessments, fees, rates and charges.
County staff recommended an annual increase not exceeding $22 per dwelling unit. Katie, with Hillsborough County Communications and Digital Media, said the proposed change is intended to maintain service levels, accommodate higher operating costs and fund capital projects needed for safety. The May 6 recap does not include a final vote on fees; the hearing is the next formal step for public comment and possible adoption.
Residents affected by the proposed fee change will have the opportunity to comment at the scheduled public hearing; additional details and the formal ordinance or fee schedule for adoption should be published with the hearing notice.
