Supervisor Gorell highlights permitting reform package and January bike safety event

Supervisor Jeff Gorell informed the MAC that the Ventura County Board of Supervisors unanimously passed a comprehensive permitting reform package intended to improve efficiency and customer service in community planning.
"There are twenty-two different reforms in the package brought under this measure," Gorell said. The reforms include a faster review path under certain conditions and allowing applicants to choose consultants rather than being assigned.
Gorell also promoted a bike safety event on Jan. 24, 2026 featuring the Sheriff’s Office, the California Highway Patrol, Ventura County Fire Department and local youth organizations to increase awareness of bike and e-bike safety. MAC members thanked the office and welcomed the LAFCo presentation on the community services district issue at the January meeting.
