Select Board approves minutes, accepts treasurer’s report and debates excavator purchase vs. lease
Summary
The board approved corrected minutes (July 31 and Aug. 19), accepted the treasurer’s report, recorded a DRB resignation and discussed the returning leased excavator and whether to present a purchase to voters; Tim Simpson said a purchase should go before voters while the board agreed to delay major purchases pending FEMA outcomes.

The Select Board handled routine business and several motions. Tim Simpson moved—and Denis Royer II seconded—to approve the July 31 minutes with the name correction "Norman Patenaude not Norbert," and to approve the Aug. 19 special minutes; both motions passed. Tim also moved to accept the Treasurer’s Report for Aug. 28, 2025; Denis seconded and the motion passed.
The board discussed equipment needs: the leased excavator is due to be returned this month and staff said there is still much work to be done. "If we purchase an excavator, we should take that in front of the voters," Tim Simpson said. The board agreed to hold major purchasing decisions pending clarity on FEMA reimbursement and to explore short-term lease extensions. Town Clerk Patti McClure reported receipt of a resignation from DRB/PC member Kate Buonanno (moved out of town). Denis moved to adjourn at 7:51 p.m.; Tim seconded and the motion passed.
