The council also reappointed Gwendolyn Byers and Telisa Hardrick to the Zoning Board of Adjustments through June 15, 2029.
On capital and contract items, the council approved an additional $38,049.51 to the Fire Station contract citing price increases tied to a delayed start date. Members also approved $6,532.40 to buy picnic tables for the community park and agreed to lease a backhoe for the water department at $1,851.58 per month for 48 months, opting to move the existing backhoe to the street department rather than trading it in. Councilmember Edward Roscoe Lane moved to change the next meeting date from July 6 to July 9, 2026; the council approved that change and also voted to pay the bills due.
