Study finds indoor rodeo arena not financially feasible for Payson at this time

Senior Planner Anders Bake presented the executive summary of an Indoor Rodeo Arena Feasibility Study that analyzed comparable facilities, site requirements, estimated construction costs (excluding land acquisition), projected operating costs and revenues, and regional economic impact. The study identified an anticipated operating deficit.
Councilmember Lacee Smith said she was not in favor of pursuing a facility that would not be financially sustainable and noted competing arenas in surrounding areas. City Manager Robert Mills said the presentation was intended to share study results and that, based on the analysis, an indoor rodeo arena is not feasible for Payson at this time.
