Payson Council adopts trespass-enforcement code allowing one-year exclusions

Payson City Council on July 1 adopted an ordinance adding Section 6.04.190 to Title 6 of the municipal code to create a city-specific trespass enforcement and exclusion process. City Attorney Brandon Dalley said the measure responds to officer requests to address vandalism, harassment and disruptive behavior at city facilities such as the pool and skate park.
Dalley told the council the ordinance allows the city to issue trespass exclusions for threatening, violent or illegal conduct for up to one year, and includes notice and appeal procedures to the Chief of Police. Police Chief Brad Bishop had met with Councilmember Lacee Smith to review the proposal prior to the vote. The ordinance passed on a roll-call vote: Yes — Brian Hulet, Anne Moss, Ryan Rowley, Lacee Smith; Absent — Bob Provstgaard.
