Sperry board approves grant applications to buy SCBA units for fire department

The Town of Sperry on April 10 authorized two grant applications to replace or expand respiratory equipment for the fire department. The board voted unanimously to submit an Indian Nations Council of Government (INCOG) 80/20 grant application to purchase three self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) units at a cost not to exceed $30,420, and to apply for a Firehouse Sub grant to buy four SCBA units at a cost not to exceed $39,000.
Fire Department representative Brad Dean presented the department’s monthly run report, named firefighter-of-the-year Zach Roberson and EMT-of-the-year Angie Woodson, and outlined the planned equipment purchases. The board also approved the Sperry Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary holding Sperry Clean Up Days on May 16–17, 2025 as a fundraiser; the auxiliary will manage the event with dump fees starting at $20 per pickup and $50 per trailer, with mattresses charged extra.
