Captain Frazier described the hospital as close to Northwest Texas Hospital and said it offers a separate wing suited to secure inmate care. "They're they're very similar setup to Northwest, but they have a a separate wing," the captain said, adding the county would provide security details for any inmates housed there. Commissioners said the arrangement responded to recurring cases in which inmates require long-term, expensive medical treatment and the jail lacks facilities to manage such care.
The court approved the exemption and directed staff to return a redlined MOU for formal execution once legal review is complete.
