Potter County court approves eight ARPA projects to obligate remaining funds before year-end

John Kuehl told the commissioners that Dec. 31 is the deadline to obligate or spend ARPA funds and presented a package of eight projects the ARPA committee recommended for approval.
"That's the date by which all your ARPA funds have to either be spent or obligated, or they have to go back to the feds," Kuehl said. The projects include public-access TV upgrades (estimated $62,504 in savings if ARPA pays), a jury-management system (~$70,410), interview-room communications upgrades for six rooms, grant-management software ($45,000), preventive plumbing repairs in a holding cell, a VxRail replacement (to save roughly $350,000 in future budget), installation of five AEDs, and replacement of in-vehicle fire-department computers (contingent on testing to confirm suitability for field use). Kuehl reported roughly $526,000 remaining in ARPA bucket 1 and about $174,000 in bucket 2 under current estimates.
Commissioner (speaker 4) moved to approve the package as presented; the court voted 5–0. The court pre-approved the fire-department in-vehicle-computer project contingently, pending the ARPA committee's confirmation that the proposed equipment will work.
