The Germantown Beer Board voted to grant an on-premise beer sales permit to 1st Watch Restaurants Inc. for the proposed 7810 Poplar Avenue location. Clerk Betty told the board the application materials, zoning confirmation and public notice were in the packet and that background checks "discovered nothing to discredit the applicants." No members of the public spoke during the hearing.
Manager Michael Koshin appeared before the board and gave his name and address for the public record. When Alderman Scott Sanders asked about prior background-check indications and how staff will be trained to prevent underage or impaired sales, Koshin said he has worked in the restaurant/retail business "for the last 20 years" and explained that staff will check IDs and refuse service when appropriate: "We record everybody, basically. No questions asked." The applicant told the board the location plans to open on Sept. 22.
After brief discussion the board approved the permit on a roll-call vote. The action authorizes 1st Watch to serve beer for on-premise consumption at the stated Poplar Avenue address.
