Landowner urges approval of Mena Creek, cites family history and proposed amenities

Scott Oberhensley, one of the property owners at the center of the Mena Creek annexation request, told the planning commission the land has been in his family for more than 100 years and that the proposed project represents his family's retirement and legacy.
"My family's been on this ground in Payson for over 100 years," Oberhensley said, recounting family history and describing the project's proposed trails, clubhouse and pool. He said Fieldstone's concept would deliver more usable open space and amenities than nearby developments and appealed to commissioners to approve the project, saying the family had tried to propose something "better" than neighboring projects.
Oberhensley acknowledged the city and neighbors have legitimate concerns and said he was flexible and open to further negotiation, but asked commissioners not to close the door on Payson as a place to develop the property.
