Potter County Commissioners on Nov. 12 approved a proclamation naming Nov. 21, 2024, as National Adoption Day in Potter County. Jessica Hoskins, a director at Saint Francis Ministries, explained the event celebrates children leaving foster care to join permanent families and invited the public to participate in the courthouse ceremony.
Hoskins said the regional caseload remains significant and told commissioners, "We we currently in this region have 344 children that are not with their forever families waiting for." Judge Nancy Tanner read the proclamation, and the court approved it by voice vote so the county could participate in the public celebration and recognize local foster and adoptive families.
