Board approves English learner needs assessment, ELD course descriptions and Title I engagement policy

On June 8 the board approved several items aimed at supporting English learners. Trustee Patty Dockstader moved to approve the English Learner Needs Assessment; the motion passed by roll call of 7 ayes. The board also approved English Language Development (ELD) course descriptions and placement criteria for Calipatria High School after a staff presentation.
Separately, the board adopted the 2026-27 Title I LEA-Level Parent and Family Engagement Policy (Ref VI E). Trustee Widmann moved to adopt the policy and the motion passed by roll call of 7 ayes. The approvals direct staff to implement the plans and post the adopted documents on the district website.
