The Calipatria Unified Board approved three school-sponsored trips during its May 11 meeting: the Calipatria High School ASB trip to Six Flags on May 21, 2026 (depart 6:00 a.m., return 10:00 p.m., two school vans); the Senior Class trip to Disneyland departing May 29 and returning May 30, 2026 (two school buses); and a second-grade trip from Fremont Primary to Get Air in Yuma, AZ on May 19, 2026 (one bus for 54 students and four chaperones). The board clarified during discussion that approval of the trips did not commit district funds to pay for the seniors' transportation request raised earlier in public forum.
Trustee D. Navarro moved to approve the three trips; Trustee Saiza seconded. The motion passed on a roll call vote of seven ayes. Administrators and trustees discussed logistics briefly and noted that principals approve local field trips while the board reviews out-of-county or overnight travel per board policy 6153.
