Potter County splits child‑safety fee 50/50 between Bridge advocacy center and Amarillo Area CASA

Amy Rhodes of the Bridge reported the nonprofit provided “350 forensic interviews through November” for Potter County investigations and outlined counseling referrals and prevention education work. Laura Escobar of Amarillo Area CASA said CASA served 270 children last year, 112 from Potter County, and described volunteer training, background checks and the average per‑volunteer cost.
Commissioners discussed prior allocations (noting a previous 65/35 split) and agreed both agencies perform critical services; a motion to split the upcoming allocation 50/50 passed 5–0. The court asked both nonprofits to keep the court informed about staffing and program placement as the county reposts extension positions and works to place additional agents and services in Potter County.
