Facilities staff told council that a paint and patch contract bid came in under the minor threshold and the item was removed from tomorrow’s agenda; carpet replacement estimates were higher than previously projected.
Dave Steele of the Facilities Department summarized the procurement results and explained scheduling pressures. “It came in at, I don't know, $1,517,000 dollars, so we're asking to pull that off the council agenda,” Steele said regarding the paint and patch work, and he described additional carpet costs tied to phasing and remobilization.
On a separate motion, the council voted 6–1 to suspend the rules and add the carpet removal and replacement contract to the next day's agenda so contract documents could be considered. Earlier, Wright asked the council to defer the interior wall patching item indefinitely and the council approved that deferral.
Steele said Camco — a contractor familiar with the site — would be able to move quickly and that staff expected to complete the refurbishments on a compressed timeline after council action.
