Resident urges River Ridge board to address standing water at Lake 8

An Oak Run resident told the River Ridge CDD board that standing water around Lake 8 is seeping under foundations and asked the board to consider regrading similar to recent Seaside work; the board asked staff to consider the request in next year’s budget.
A resident representing Oak Run told the River Ridge Community Development District Board on Jan. 28 that persistent standing water near Lake 8 has created property damage concerns and requested work similar to recent Seaside projects.
"Residents are asking the Board to consider something similar to their neighborhood," said Rich Batterberry, conveying his and other residents' concerns about rainwater that "pools from the monument to halfway down Lake 8" and that water is "getting under the foundations." District Engineer Charlie Krebs reviewed work done at Seaside and said the issues at Lake 8 "could be addressed by completing work similar to the work in Seaside." Chair Bob Schultz said the matter "would be considered during the Fiscal Year 2025/2026 budget process."
The exchange followed public comment time; the board did not authorize immediate construction but directed staff to include the issue in budget planning and cost estimates. Krebs was asked to obtain costs for regrading and related stormwater measures for consideration in the FY2025/2026 budget. The discussion establishes the item as a budget-level priority and prompted a request for follow-up estimates and an evaluation of options.
