Loami adopts rules for solar installations, including decommissioning permits

The Village of Loami board on April 16 approved Ordinance 2026-06 to establish supplementary zoning regulations for solar energy systems, including requirements for permits and provisions addressing decommissioned panels.
Zoning Chair Andrea Moore told trustees "solar is happening and there is a need to put rules and regulations on solar installation." The ordinance also includes permit requirements and rules for decommissioned panels; Trustee Billy Cohen moved for approval and Trustee Todd Lawson seconded. The board adopted the ordinance by roll-call vote.
The measure is intended to provide clarity for property owners and installers about placement and the lifecycle of panels, and to create a process for handling panels taken out of service. The clerk's office will publish the ordinance text and permit details for applicants.
