Caseville council approves invoices, sets budget hearings and hires auditor

The council approved payment of invoices described in the meeting packet as “Paid through May 7, 2026, totaling $188,806.10,” a roll-call action carried 6-0 on Resolution #2026-22. The motion to approve was made by Council member Darin Sprague and seconded by Jacob Kretzschmer.
Council accepted preliminary budgets for FY2027 and set public hearings for June 8, 2026: the Caseville Downtown Development Authority (DDA) public hearing at 5:15 p.m. with a proposed DDA ad valorem general operation millage of 1.4326 mils (Resolution #2026-23), and a City budget public hearing at 5:30 p.m. with a proposed ad valorem general operation millage of 16.0750 mils (Resolution #2026-24). Both budget resolutions passed 6-0 on roll call.
On finance oversight, the council approved an audit engagement with Nietzke & Faupel, PC to conduct the FY2026 audit at a cost not to exceed $21,400 (Resolution #2026-25). The council also approved a temporary reduction of the vending fee to $100 for the Caseville Methodist Church for a single day of vending on May 21, 2026 at 6490 Main St. (Resolution #2026-26).
