Caseville hears $21.8 million quote for 12-inch water line; EGLE permit still pending

City Manager Jamie Learman told the council the city received a contractor quote for “only a 12" water line from Kinde to Caseville and it was $21.8 million.”
DPW Supervisor Troy Hartz reported the city is completing a water-plant pretreatment process but added that “they are waiting on EGLE to permit it.” Learman said the $21.8 million figure did not include additional work required to connect the city to the Huron Regional Water Authority (HRWA) via Bad Axe’s line, and he said the city was “in the running for funding from Sen. Peters’ office.”
Council members did not take formal action on the quote during the meeting; the figure was provided as part of staff reports and will inform budget discussions at the public hearing the council set for June 8 on the FY2027 budget.
