Caseville council approves small increases to water, sewer and garbage base charges

The Caseville City Council on Jan. 12 approved a set of small base-charge increases for municipal utilities that the city says will take effect with the July 1, 2026 billing cycle.
Council adopted RESOLUTION #2026-7 to raise the City Water base charge by $1 per quarter, RESOLUTION #2026-8 to raise the City Sewer base charge by $2 per quarter, RESOLUTION #2026-9 to raise the Sewer OM&R base charge by $1 per quarter, and RESOLUTION #2026-10 to raise the City Garbage base charge by $1 per quarter. Each motion passed on roll call votes of 4-0. According to the motions, the July 1 bills will cover the period April 1 through June 30, 2026.
Councilmember John Tait moved the water increase and Jeff Hervert seconded; Tait and Hervert participated in the roll calls for the package of utility increases. City Manager Jamie Learman had earlier discussed the need to raise rates as part of department reports to the council. The measures are framed as modest adjustments to the base charge rather than rate-per-unit changes.
