WBCSD confirms summer meal sites and schedule; broad marketing plan proposed

The task force confirmed locations, dates and times for the district's summer meal program: PRE and IDH will distribute breakfast from 8:30–9:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Monday–Friday between June 22 and Aug. 14, 2026. Summer-school classes at PRE will run June 22–July 16, with school hours noted as 8 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
Members discussed a marketing plan that includes District School Media, Beacon, Daily Bee and Gem State, a simple press release or flyer to the Miner, postings at area libraries (PR, PL, Blanchard, Newport), food banks, city halls (Priest River, Oldtown), distribution of USDA Summer Meal Program flyers and outreach via churches. Staff also noted that adult meals would be available for purchase and that the program aims to achieve congregate status next year after audits are completed.
