East Salinas residents tell oversight committee they still see potholes, broken lights and weeds

Several residents told the Measure G Oversight Committee during public comment that they do not see the improvements reflected in the audit and financial reports in their neighborhoods and called for targeted action and transparency.
A resident who identified her neighborhood as Creek Bridal said she had not seen street sweeping or lighting improvements there and described park areas as underused. Another commenter said streets they drive regularly—East Veranda, East Alisal, Williams Road, Freedom Parkway and Allstate Road—remain in poor condition and urged committee members to “come fix East Salinas.” Mary Ann Wharton (who spoke at the meeting) asked why divider strips and landscaping by a local car dealership were not being maintained despite previous investment. Jose Garamondria said he could not accept the report without visible on-the-ground follow-through and requested that the city post maps or schedules so residents can verify work.
"I don't think measure g has worked," one public commenter said. Committee members responded that the audit and the financial report cover FY24–25 (not current-year activity), encouraged residents to use the city’s reporting app to flag specific problems, and urged them to contact their city council members to advocate for neighborhood priorities.
